WHITTIER, ALASKA JULY 6, 2016 and Alaska Wildlife Conservation center.

Drove to port town of Whittier today which was only about 12 miles away. Had to drive thru the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel which is a multi-use highway and railroad tunnel. At almost 2.5 miles, it is the second longest highway tunnel and longest combined rail and highway tunnel in North America. The tunnel is designed with a single highway lane built over the railroad tracks. Traffic alternates direction every 15 minutes and is stopped completely if a train has to pass through. We also visited the Portage Glacier visitor center and saw at least 6 different glaciers during our 12 mile drive!!

But first, the Alaska Wildlife Conservation center.
