JUNE 30, 2013 Cody, Wyoming

Got up this morning and went to church in Cody. Visited a little Nazarene church - had about 25 people in the service which included the minister. Then this afternoon we went on a 3 hour river raft trip down the Shoshone river. Encountered about a dozen class 2 rapids and got soaked every time.

First part of the trip went thru Red Rock Canyon.

Our guide, Dallas. He didnt run us into any boulders but got us wet plenty of times.

Mike sat in the second row and had to help row when the guy gave the command.

JUNE 29, 2013 Yellowstone Wyoming while staying in Cody, Wy.

Took a drive into Yellowstone this morning to check out the visitor center so that we can scope out our drives thru the park for later. We will be here until Friday so we plan to visit the park at least 2 or 3 days and see the sites. Didnt get too far into the park on this visit but saw some great sites.

Still snow on the ground right next to the road.

Plenty of water falls along the road.

Visited a place that sold all kinds of antlers make into lights, chandelliers, etc.

JUNE 28, 2013 - CODY WYOMING

Got up early today and left South Dakota about 9:00. Drove all the way to Cody Wyoming where our next campground is located - about an 8 hour drive. The last couple of hours was spent going up and down the mountains on scenic highway 16. The drive was beautiful but the 6% grades slowed us down to about 25 mph in 3rd gear to keep the engine from overheating. Going to have to look at the manual again about driving in the mountains.

Here is our campsite at Yellowstone Valley Inn and RV Park (actually in Wapiti, just west of Cody). All gravel with heated pool and hot tub.

Thre beautiful Badlands of South Dakota...

Bear Country USA..... saw alllllllllll the wildlife...... reindeer, brown and black bear, red fox, cyote,  river otter, mountain sheep..... what fun!!!!!!!!!!!

What an incredible day...........OMg!  Went to the Black Hills....some of it was brown....pine beetle infestation last summer!!!

Mount Rushmore daytime and lighting!!!!!

Sylvan Lake is gorgeous!!!! .....and cold! S Padre Island, Tx. to S. Dakota!!!!!!

JUNE 25,2013 TUESDAY

WOW!     WHAT A DAY!!!!!

Walked thru Hill City this morning...quaint town in the Black Hills of S. D.

Ordered our sign for the coach.......you'll see later!!


Of course, we stopped at couple wineries!!!

Took the 1880 Train to Keystone and back.  Saw old telegraph posts/wire, several deer (unable to capture on camera), I was so awestruck!!!!!.......saw Harney Peak, granite rock, pretty flowers....so enjoyed the ride and view.,.,Mike sooooo enjoyed his nap!!

A contractor built his house on these rocks.....good idea if it's the right ROCK!!!!!

Then we went to see Crazy Horse.....just did a drive-by for photos

Had Chuckwagon style supper at Circle B with cowboy music.....they were very good!!!

I have to say.... the Piece de resistance was the BRULE indian show.  Music very good with colorful dancers.
