HOMER SPIT JUNE 26, 2016
Went to church today and then just chilled out. Alma drove to some beaches to see what she could find. We leave this beautiful view behind tomorrow when we leave. Alma is sad....and spoiled to these gorgeous views and the beachcombing.
Yes, this eagle is standing right next to this man on the beach.
HOMER SPIT JUNE 25, 2016
I think of Crystal Beach when I see the Spit. Homer is the town and its at the top of the picture.
Lots of traffic and pedestrians crossing. There's a boat harbor, state ferry, eateries and shops, fishing cleaning of fish.,and traffic

We left our 1 dollar bill at the Salty Dawg.

When not eating out...we cooked on the campfire!!! and of course had smores.

HOMER ALASKA ON THE SPIT!!!! JUNE 25, 2016
Today we packed up and moved to the Homer spit and checked into the Heritage RV Park for a couple nights. We are again camping right on the water with a view of the mountains and glaciers of the bay. The spit is a 4.5 mile long piece of land jutting out from Homer into the Kachemak Bay. We drove around the spit sampling food, drinks and visiting gift shops. Found local Eagles nest in town.

HOMER, ALASKA JUNE 24, 2016 SELDOVIA
Arriving at Seldovia.

The Boardwalk. Not very commercialized and I understand the towns people like it that way. This is a very quiet fishing village.
This town, too, was affected by the 1964 Good Friday earthquake. Sank about 6 ft.
Old Russian Orthodox Church which still holds services.
WE had also taken a road trip backtracking to see what we missed!!! This is one of many old Russian settlements.
Russian Orthodox Church

A special visitor on the roadside in this village.

HOMER BOAT CRUISE WATCHING WILDLIFE JUNE 24, 2016
Today we took a wildlife cruise to Seldovia with Jerry and Cynthia Jenkins . It is a little old Russian town across the Kachemak Bay from Homer. We saw a lot of whales and sea otters on the way over and at least a dozen eagles while in town.
