Drove down to Seward yesterday for the 4th of July weekend. After checking out a few sites we settled on the parking lot of the Alaska Sealife Center. As you can see, once again we have a fabulous front yard. Normal population here is 8000 and this holiday weekend it will swell to over 30,000 because they have a marathon race that includes running up and down a mountain. Going to be a lot of street fairs, vendors, music, parades and of course fireworks this weekend and we have a prime viewing site.
Today we took a 6 hour wildlife cruise through the Kenai Fjords National Park. We saw lots of otters, sea lions, at least a dozen humpback whales and a pod of orcas as well as numerous kinds of birds. We ended up at the huge Aialik Glacier which is 2 miles wide and over 5 miles long.
