ANCHORAGE JULY 11, 2016 ALASKA NATIVE HERITAGE CENTER

Yesterday we hung around Anchorage and checked out the Alaska Native Heritage Center and a few gift stores. Today we drove over to Chugiak and painted some scarves. Afterwards we drove up to Hatcher Pass which today was above the clouds............drove through a lot of clouds.  Campground was walking distance of downtown and the Saturday Market.

Ship Creek behind campground.

Pizza with Jerry and Cynthia Jenkins

 Great center.  Tall Fireweed.

Houses built into the hills for cool and warmth by Athabascan natives. Every part of an animal was used.  Nothing ever wasted.  Bones, intestines, skins, feathers....all put to use.

 Native dancers

 Whale bones.
