MAY 24, 2016 DAWSON CREEK BC CANADA

Well............we made it to the start of the Alaskan Highway, milepost 0 in Dawson Creek. We toured the town today and visited the museums to see how the highway was built in only 8 months. Since WW2 was in full swing, a lot of shortcuts were taken that could not happen today.

Watched 2 very interesting films on the building of the ALASKAN HIWAY. To start from scratch and finish in 8 months is phenomenal.

one of many murals in the town as it was in 1942 and earlier.

metal sculpture in town showing the way to Alaska

one of three bridges built in 1942. Wooden and curved.

We watched several beavers below in the river.
