named LUCKNOW....stone and hewn oak built to stand for centuries.  Unique country estate built in 1914 on mountaintop overlooking Lake Winnipausakee on 6000 plus acres belonging to Thomas and Olive Plant.  Plant made his fortune in the Shoe business.  Sold to United shoes and retired at 52 and built this for his wife of age 32.  They lived here over 20 yrs until the economy failed. 1941 Plant died and Olive moved back to Maine to care for ailing parents. House handcrafted in the Japanese, Norweigan, Norman and Swiss architecture.

 maids quarters

Roundels inset to original windows. Noone knows who painted these..  Possibly made in Europe and sent over to be installed.  They also had MCD SHADES!!!! Screen inside to open the windows.

This is a pipe facade.  House was built with a pipe organ.  Origional pipes were removed by subsequent owners.  Preservation society is working to restore and replace.

These furniture pieces are original.  Look great for their wear..

I wanted to go see the Old Man of the Mountain (see photo). I remember seeing this when I was a kid but found out that it collapsed in 2003...............BUMMER. So we drove around North Conway and checked out the little shops and brewery.
