July 8, 2011 - Devil's Den State Park

We took the Devil's Den Trail after a breakfast of pancakes, blackberries, strawberries, bacon, and milk.  Up and down the trails, round and round the Boston Mts.  Seemed like we walked 5-6 miles when in reality, it was only 1 1/2 mile walk.

We saw some interesting caves that were closed to exploring.  The Devils' Icebox gave us some cooler air to enjoy while we rested before moving on.

We found the pool, cafe , and store before heading back to the coach for lunch.  After a sandwich and some fruit, we needed a nap.  We both stretched out, read some, snoozed a little, and read some more.  Before you know it it was 4:30.

We had planned on taking another short trail, but the one we wanted was 3 miles, a bit far for 4:30 in the afternoon.  So we hung around and just relaxed some more.
Dinner was a yummy T-bone Mike grilled.  We also had mashed potatoes, and a salad.  Other than the flies that made eating outside a chore, we enjoyed our shady site.
Once inside the coach I sat down on the couch only to start yelling "get it off of me!"  I felt something wiggling and moving, saw what I thought was a long leg sticking out of my pocket.  I had visions of this HUGE spider in there.  Mike jumped up to see what I was yelling about- My knight in shiny armor!  We both saw it was a skinny caterpillar crawling out of my pocket.   My hero took care of  ridding of the vicious creature. Whew!
