July 15-17, 2011 - GNR

Since we only have electrical hookups, the guys & gals fill their water tanks by connecting hoses all the way to the fire hydrant.  It is a group project and everyone is more than happy to help.  We do this maybe every other day.

Now you are probably asking yourself "and what about the poop?"  There is a 'Honey Wagon' that comes by daily to empty those that need it.  For $20 you can be sweet smellin' once again.

On Saturday we went to the President's dinner/seminar.  It was by invitation only.  They had an hour of speakers, great buffet dinner, followed by entertainment.

On Saturday we went to the Puckerbrush Days Parade.  For a small city, this place really put on a nice parade.  The local Shriners were even in the parade.  Their little red racers were a joy for all to see.  We found this nice shade tree with enough seating for 2,  then we made new friends with all those under the tree.

On Sunday, visited the Heritage Festival right down the road from the campgrounds. They have an old restored town from the 1800's with old machinery and steam engines that still work. A lot of old furnished houses and barns - kinda neat to see.

This was an old time steam engine that was operating in 95 deg heat and was turning a 60' long leather belt that was in turn.......................

driving this old saw mill. They were cutting planks off of large trees.

We kind of relaxed for the afternoon and then of course gathered for Happy Hour at 4:00. The Texas State Winnie president supplied a brisket for dinner and all the rest of us brought side dishes for a giant pot luck. The Texas row has about 75 coaches in it - there are about 1100 coaches at this rally.

After dinner we all went to the opening ceremonies in the amphitheater. After about 30 minutes of good entertainment, all the Winnebago big wigs talked; more entertainment and fun.

We crashed for the night and waited for the first full day of activities.
