July 7, 2011 - Devils Den State Park

Started the day off with cereal and delicious blackberries. Got on the road about 9:00AM.  We told TomTom to take us the shortest route.  Before you know it, we were on a one and a half lane dirt road twisting and turning, but not able to go over 15mph.  Then we came to a crossroad where we turned onto a one lane dirt road.  We got to see the back streets of Bismark and surrounding area. Very interesting!  About 40 minutes into this shortcut, dirt covered motorhome and car, we decided to end this adventure.  We headed back to the  main roads and no longer requested the shortest route.
We stopped at the Cracker Barrel near Little Rock for lunch.  We got in line and right in front of us were some friends, Andy & Lisa King from KUMC in Kingwood.  Small world!  After a great lunch we made our first of many to come visits to Walmart.
We arrived at Devil's Den State Park around 4:00PM.  It is located deep in a valley of the rugged Boston Mts. in the Ozarks.  The campsites are spacious and paved.
After a dinner of leftovers, we walked around a bit.  We went down by the creek, which was barely moving and smelled like stagnate water, but the scenery is gorgeous and we are looking forward to tomorrow and walking some of the trails.  If we could only get away from this 100 plus degree weather!
We have retired to the coach and having desert- Mudslides.
