July 5, 2011 - Lake DeGray State Park

9:00AM and we are on our way.  We followed TomTom and skirted the major highway for a shorter route, only to end up back on I59.  It was more scenic!  We ate lunch somewhere between Marshall and Jefferson, TX.  Once we were in Arkansas, Arkadelphia was our goal.  We forced ourselves to pass the Crater of Diamonds, knowing the gleaming jewels were just there for us to dig them up in the 100 degree plus temperature.

We arrived at DeGray Resort State Park about 3:00PM.  Rain clouds quickly moved in and we think we actually saw a few drops on the car while we were setting up.  The wind picked up and gave us a great breeze for awhile.  After dinner, we went for a walk.

Look at this beautiful sight.  That's the water behind us.  We are looking forward to more exploring tomorrow and a dip or two in the lake.
