4-28-2018 NEWPORT MANSIONS AND BEACHES

Stayed at Charlestown Breachway State Park. Alma looked for shells on several beaches. then to Meadowlark RV Park in Middleton, RI close to Newport. Toured some of the millionaire mansions in Newport built during the gilded age from late 1800s to early 1900s (BEFORE federal personal property tax was passed into law). Most of these were considered cottages by the wealthy people who owned them. We visited the Breakers, Marble House and The Elms and Rosecliff. Drove over to the Lizzie Borden house where she gave her mother 40 whacks!!!!! Visited battleship cove which was a floating museum

We were parked right on a channel off the Atlantic.  Fun watching the tides in and out, fishermen.
