CRATER LAKE OREGON AUGUST 2014

Crater Lake Lodge built in the early 1900's.  Roofs take a lot of damage from the snow.  Two large fireplaces in the lobby area.  Very rustic and warm.  Bark on the logs in the lobby.

Took the 2 hr trolley ride around the lake.  Understand,  this is almost all uphill and you look down at the lake.  There is a place you can hike 1 mile down to the lake and take a boat ride in the 1943 ft. deep lake formed by volcanic activitiy.  This lake was the opening of a volcano.

Ranger Chris and Sean the driver.
This is Wizard Island, so named after the man who discovered this beautiful place in the 1800's. Close up below. There is wildlife here....deer, occasional bear swims over.
