Eatons came to our house to stay the night and leave together for Perry, Ga. First stop.....Poches RV Park in Breaux Bridge, La. Neighbors were Kurt and Barbara from Minneapolis. He was there to jam with Zydeco on accordian. Gave us a little taste!
March 6-drove to Atmore, Ga. to Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve... a new Indian park..nice level sites on gravel with tall pines. Cooked burgers out.
March 7-11 yrs since Rick went to heaven. On to Twin Oaks RV in Elko, Ga. Beautiful color along the way..wisteria, azaleas, Dogwood.
March 8-on to Tybee Island, Ga. Alma set-up and went straight to beach. Couple large sand dollars and various shells,
First full day @ Rivers End Campground. No room for Eatons so they went to Hilton Head RV Resort. They went to Charleston while we went to Savannah. Took a historical bus tour of city. Very interesting and educational. Beautiful florals, tall old oaks, great architecture in 1700 and 1800 built buildings. Saw most of 23 squares. Tour stopped 15 mins. on River Street. Enough time to visit the candy store and buy pralines. Learned of the Gullah culture developed along the coasts of Carolinas and Georgia by slaves from Africa in the 17th and 18th centuries. A creole language. Stopped at Fort Pulaski on way back to Tybee.
Dinner at A-J's Dockside. Chilly. Beautiful sunset....great shrimp and oysters!!
March 10 visited the chilly beach again without much luck except loosing the car!!! Drove by the Tybee Lighhouse Yesterday all the fountains in town were greened for St. Patrick week. Tybee had a great parade.....dancers, Clydesdales, Shriners. Dinner at Rock House,
March 11 Church at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church celebrating their 150 yrs this year. Beautiful Stained Glass windows of history. Down to Riverfront Street to walk the shops on original cobblestone streets. Nachos at Lizzy's Tequila bar and grill on River St.
March 12, 2018 Back to Elko, Ga. to Twin Oaks. Dinner at Cracker Barrel with Eatons and Jack and Kathy Martin staying down the hiway. Pyles came in at 6p.m.
March 13 All drove to park at FMCA rally in Perry.
