The we drove to Fairbanks and checked in to Riverview RV Park for about 5 days. After meeting up with Jerry and Cynthia, we drove ALL the way to the North Pole and visited SANTA!!!!! We checked out the visitor center and found the end of the end of the Alaska Highway, toured the Gold Dredge #8 with the Jenkins which was a gold dredging operation in the early 1900's, panned for gold and found $18 worth of gold, stopped by the farmers market, listened to some stories of the Yukon and early Alaska from an ole Sourdough at the campground, visited the U of A Museum and then quenched our thirst at the HooDoo Brewery. We drove to Chena Hot Springs with Jenkins and relaxed in the springs after touring the ice museum, went to Pioneer Park and the Alaska Salmon Bake - all the salmon and prime rib you want to eat, attended the Palace Theater vaudeville show. Then we did a 3 hour boat tour on the flooded Chena river on the Riverboat Discovery where we visited the Chena Indian village, had a bush pilot take off and land on the water right next to us, visited the kennels of the late four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher, and saw a sled dog racing demo.
This is a record of our travels and GREAT adventures.
