AUGUST 27-28, 2013 SMOKIES

Decided to go tubing....well, Mike decided we'd go tubing.  Little River was low so, I was ok. Oh well, no photos.  Trust me, went tubing 4 miles, 3.5 hrs and the water was cold!!!

8-28 we drove in the Smoky Mt. Natlional Park again and saw these sights along the way.

There is really a bear in this tree eating berries, ane her two babies were in 2 more trees.  Took photo....alll you could see was a little bear bum sitting on a limb.

Todays objective was Cades Cove.  An eleven mile loop of a once settled farming community dating back to before the 1820's.  Families settling were Tipton, Sparks, Lawson,Whitehead and Oliver.  The barns, smokehouses, blacksmith shops and homes are origional but some may have been moved from another area.

These are old farm lands where the origional grasses are returning.

Hi from the corncrib!!!!

The Methodist church built in 115 days for $115.
There was also, Missionary Baptist and Primitive Baptist.

The John P. Cable Grist Mill, which was the first real industy in this area.  This wheel is still a working mill and flour is for sale inside this mill.
